ACTIVITIES

Devcich Historic Farmstead offers many activities and experiences for our guests to enjoy. Go fly fishing or swimming in the pristine waters of the Kauaeranga river. Take a llama trek and experience the scenic beauty of the surrounding area.

 

Explore all the original chattels and historic buildings of the Kauri logging and gum digging days.

Be entertained by our many farm animals.

FEED THE FARM ANIMALS

Our guests have the unique opportunity to wander the farm and feed the wide array of animals. Accompanied by the host, you'll have have so much fun interacting with sheep, cows, llamas, emus, chickens, peacocks and guinea fowl. Please check with the host for feeding times.

FLY FISHING

With the beautiful Kauaeranga river flowing through the Devcich Farmstead there are numerous opportunities for rainbow trout fishing. Guests are welcome to bring their own rod and gear. Please contact us for more information.

LLAMA TREKS
HISTORY TOUR

Get acquainted with the farm's friendly llamas on a 90 minute scenic walk which follows the river along the old tram line . 

You will be given an introduction to llamas and trekking and your own llama to lead. A minimum of two llamas and a maximum of 4 llamas required for trekking. Children must be aged 12-15 years.

SWIMMING

There is a peaceful swimming hole within walking distance of the Devcich Historic Farmstead.  Guests can enjoy swimming and relaxing on the sandy beach. This is also an ideal spot for picnics!

Learn Simun Devcich' story and how he pioneered a farmstead, highly valued for the importance it played in the Kauaeranga Valley during the gum digging and kauri logging era.

On this 30 minute guided tour, guests will have the opportunity to explore the old buildings, such as the store, stables, ​black smith's forge, the wine shed, wool and tool sheds, and Kauri mill.
